If I run UST tyres and apply the yellow rim tape and use Stan's olympic valves, will it work? I've got a choice of the EN 521 or the XC 717 and I want to run 2.2 + UST tyres. The width and profile of the EN 521 looks like it's best for the job. Any experience of doing this? Ta.

Yes, ghetto is an option, which would work for both rims, but ideally I'd like to set it up with the Stan's system.

The stans system is just gheto with a £30 price tag, the yelllow tape is yellow tape, the rim strip is just aa thick BMX tube cut to fit.

The DT/eclipse system is a bit more technical.

My EN321's were fine with both gheto and stans.

Can't comment on the tubeless, but sounds like EN521's are overkill for what you want. They are 21mm wide which is more than you need for a 2.2 tyre, and are 25% heavier than 717's.

I run 521's because I abuse them and use 2.35 tyres, but wouldn't want them for XC

3M crossweave tape does everything Stans tape does at a fraction of the price

I've taped up dozens of wheels with no problems, even on 90psi road tubeless
