ok.... 310€ for a set of new Deemax.

http://bikemarkt.mtb-news.de/bikemarkt/showproduct.php?product=511995

can't find much info on the net regarding them, but seeing as they are "the" DH wheel set i'm thinking i can't go wrong with them. lighter than many enduro/xc wheel sets.

the only thing i don't like is that they are system wheels, i.e. need funky tools and spokes...

totally bombproof - especially that version - non-racers should steer away from the Ultimate (yellow) version as they have a super-light, almost sacrificial rim - i.e. designed to be soft enough to not pinch as easily and let riders finish their run. Never had any issues with mine going out of true, never broken a spoke, etc. Nice to run tubeless without using s strip, etc. The only slight niggle I had was the bearing tension loosened off a few times when I first got them - stayed put after that though. Mine are just being used as trail wheels on a Yeti 575. Great wheels....

They look like the older non ultimate wheelset.

At 2100+g, they are pretty tank like. Certainly not lighter than many enduro/XC wheelsets.

Even the Deemax Ultimate are 1900+g. That's pretty much on the money for a Hope Hoop/Flow wheelset.

Plenty of lighter, better options out there now IMO.

everything.....

from pissing about in the street, to transalp tours, to trips to the bike park (Leogang, Saalbach, etc), to hike-a-bike adventures.

one-size-fits-all is what i'm aiming for.

my bike as it was prior to yesterday evening....

cx-monkey.... what size tyres are you running on them and are your wheels the (old) silver or (new) yellow Ultimate?

I'm a bit confused as the advert seems to say they are new, but that version / colour is from about 4 years ago prior to the ultimates coming out as mentioned above but they have the new version decals on them.

As far as quality is concerned I have 3 sets of Deemax wheels, one is nearly 10 years old now and they are all still going strong, they are bullet proof. You can shed some weight as they are tubeless compatible, just make sure you use latex in them and buy a good quality spoke key, Pedro's do a realy good one.

I have misled you sorry, I've looked into it and the silver version did come out about 4 years ago, BUT the Std Deemax version was available for the 2011 model in silver with the new decals on;- http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=30816

I'm guessing these will be last years stock being sold off and for 300 euro at the current exchange rate they are a bargain 😀
