Anyone set up their Mavic Crossrides for tubeless using a Stans or Joes rim strip? Any tips for setup? I think it is a 19mm internal width rim, and the standard size strips will fit, but any tips for fitting. Best to remove the original Mavic tape thing, and replace with normal rim tape, or just leave it in place?

Also, are Stans rims strips fairly reusable, or is it not worth the effort?

Cheers

Just checked and the strips I have at the moment (which I could potentially reuse) are Joes strips. I guess the same theory applies whether they are Stans or Joes though.

Joes and stans are quite diff. Joes appear to be more reusable long term and have the valve integral to the strip. You might want to remove your rimtape- had trouble with some rims and some Tyres. You don't get to find this out til you have got the job nearly done...

Set my brothers up with 19mm joes strips with a single layer
of velox underneath, went up no bother! Maxxis tyres used.

My Crossrides went up and sealed perfectly with Stans standard strips and Maxxis high rollers and Minions. I also ran a single layer of Velox tape underneath

Thanks all. Pretty happy with the Joes setup I got from you before Mark, so I'll stick with that. Assuming I can get the strip neatly off the other wheels, I will give it a shot later with one layer of electrical tape and try reusing my existing Joes strips.

Sometimes it's good to have a little padding under the strip for a tighter fit.

Stan's reccommend to remove your original (cloth?) rim tape if using narrow rims (i.e. 17mm internal) and to leave it in if you have 'normal' rims (i.e. 19mm internal). If you have wider than normal rims you are advised to add some foam tape under the strip.
