I bought some Crossmax STs off the classifieds a few weeks back - they were advertised as 20mm with 15mm adapters. However it transpires that the wheels come in 3 different configurations - 9/15mm, 20mm or lefty.

I've had a look and it seems that the 20mm has a dedicated all in one axle.

Anyone know if the 9/15mm axle can be fitted with to the same hub with the same bearings? Anyone done it? If so, wa the axle easy to get hold of? I've googled but can't find it anywhere, except an unofficial one from Oregon...

To change the hub type on the Crossmax st, I had 2012's, the 20mm adapters screwed onto a small threaded piece sticking out of either side of the hub. The QR and 15mm adapters both pushed in. I think the lefty are different hubs but all the others fit on the same hub with the same bearings.

In the hub, the bearings have an I.d of 25mm, there's then an axle within that and the adapters fit to this. This makes it easy to change the fittings

I had to buy the risse racing adapter for my crossmax done the job but cost nearly £50 posted ,if your rim stickers are in white writing(2011) you can only fit the risse adapter ,if the writing is in silver(2012) you can fit the newer adapters shown above

Thanks everyone. Seems that I may actually have a 2012 rear and a 2011 front. The front axle is definitely all one piece.

Actually, scratch that. The hub is a 2012 one - I was just being an idiot and not working out how to get the 20mm adapters off. All sorted now! 😆
