Considering a pair of the above and have a few questions.
1. Are they any good?
2. Do they wear out in a flash?
3. How are they size wise? Large? Wide?
4. I've been using Shimano MT51's, MT53's etc... for over 16 years and haven't tried much else in a 'boot' style shoe. Will the Mavics work as well?
Thanks,
J
I have wide feet and find Mavic a tight fit in the toe box, but cannot comment on how long they last.
I've got the Alpine XL's which are, basically, the same shoe.
1. Are they any good? - Yes, very happy with mine. Good grip and stiffness and comfortable to walk in.
2. Do they wear out in a flash? - No issues with mine after 6 months use
3. How are they size wise? Large? Wide? - They are slightly small on size but mine are fine. Normally a 9 which were a tad tight to start with but fit well now.
4. I've been using Shimano MT51's, MT53's etc... for over 16 years and haven't tried much else in a 'boot' style shoe. Will the Mavics work as well? - I'm using mine with XT trail pedals and they do support my feet well.
Thanks guys!
I also have the alpine XLs.
You'll need to go a size up if you want to use insoles or thick socks.
They have excellent hike a bike grip.
They are very comfortable.
They are very heavy. I also think they will outlive the apocalypse. I have had to replace one set of the quick lacing, which cost about 5 pounds and took ten minutes.
I would recommend as a bare minimum buying 0.5 euro bigger, thats what I have.
They don't feel like a boot.
continuity:What chord did you use when you replaced the quick-lacing?
