Hi guys,

I've bought a 2009 Mavic Crossmax SX wheelset however the front cant be converted to a 20mm standard. I've read that it may be possible to use the adaptable front axle from the crossmax 2012 front hub. This allows the 20mm adapters to be screwed on.

Does anyone know if the 2012 front axle fits the 2009 hub?

Cheers, Mark

Hmm, 2009 was white hub, grey rim, flowery white pattern?

Front was 20mm only from production.

Thanks for the reply, front was 15mm from pproduction with an adapter. Actual axle is 20mm thru just not wide enough. 🙁

I've got a 20mm I would swap you but need to figure out what hub you've got as the bearing size is different on early models

It's these ones.

The axle is actually 20mm, however the axle isn't wide enough and would need adapters on the ends - hence the later crossmax wheels having screw on adapters for either side of the axle. My axle has no screws. It comes as standard with push in 15mm adapters.

thanks cnud, the bearing size is the same as far as I understand (20mm ID). Would you propose just a hub swap?

There's something dodgy going on there then

the original axle from the factorywas 20mmx110mm part no 99689701 with bearing M40179 - there's no way it could fit 15mmx100mm adaptors or not.

The only way to make it fit at the time was a risse racing aftermarket axle - they were silver rather than the original black one and had no adaptors.

just measured up, the "standard" axle is 20mm x 90mm wide. It then is supplied with push in adapters to make a 15mm axle. I guess what i'm after is a push on 20mm adapters which push over the axle. Not sure if they exist - could this be them http://www.jensonusa.com/Mavic-Crossmax-2009-20mm-Axle-Adapter ? I've asked.

Bloody hope so - I really want to use these wheels! I'm even thinking about having something cnc'd if what I need isn't available.

looks like these 20mm extensions will do the job?
