Hi

I have a rounded spoke nipple on an 819

looks like I need to remove the insert to get the nipple out? Is that right?

And what tool would I need - is it a 9mm I need?

ta muchly

You need a spoke key (pretty sure it's 9mm) and one of these: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=18081

Also worth noting that you need a longer nipple than normal, usually a 16mm, otherwise your spoke key may not reach, and the inserts in the rim have a left-handed thread.

Hey Charlie, I use a set of plyers wrapped in duct tape. It's OK although it marks the inserts. Loctite for doing them up definitely. V. easy.

Hope you're well.
