Few week back bought a 2nd hand Marz Z2 fork, was fine for a bit and felt pretty good, now there's a slight vibration or rattle coming from the front end. It sort of feels like a loose headset but it isn't that. Anyone got one and had any similar issues or experiences?

Waiting to hear back from seller just in case they had issues that they had fixed or anything like that but not expecting much.

No issues with mine, save for the headset weirdly coming loose.

Its probably the bushes in the lower legs,my lads z2 did it within a few months of riding them from new. Warranty job if new or £200 for new lower legs so I was told. His rattled as you lifted the wheel off the ground and put it back down.

@lecky94 that pretty much sums up what I'm experiencing, harder to feel the issue when riding. Why new lower legs would new bushes not fix the problem?

If they are gubbed and out of warranty, you *might* be able to have go at carefully resizing the bushings. I don't know for certain, but it may be that the bushings are fitted inside a slightly tapered conical interface, so tapping them down a smidge may tighten them up.

Obvs. gentle-gentle and at your own risk etc... It is easier to tighten them than to loosen them. Look for some vids on youtube.

You need to know which ones are loose. Slide the lowers onto the uppers one leg at a time, and do both lowers on both sides of the uppers. You should be able to work out which one(s) is(are) loose.

Z2 bushes are cast in, can't be replaced. They must be made out of steel [anything else would have melted] Mine rusted and wrecked the stanchions. I would not now buy a bike with this fork. It's one to avoid

Bummer I have these on my Nukeproof Reactor. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this or extend time before the inevitable?....

Yes
Mine came without the little oil retaining donuts just under the lip seals. In part due to this water that got past the seals sat on the top of the bushes which developed spots of rust on the top edges. I use my Scandal in the summer months and did lot of winter road miles on my Dog with the Z2 locked out.
I now have lateral scratches on the stanchions over a 10 mm vertical area. I may try and rub these down with auto sol and then fill the tiny furrows with nail polish.
So Don't ride with the forks locked out, as it leaves the water statically sitting in one place without disturbance.
Do get the foam donuts fitted and oiled.
Ignore the generous service intervals and often clean it internally.
And er don't powerwash it and then put it away....

Stick them on ebay and get something else. No reason for forks today to be so delicate.

With a bit of luck there will be another sale thread pops up. Just have to be sure to bite the bullet and get in early before this lot snaps them all up.

Dont know what travel you need but theres still a few Yari's on Evans sale page

That’s a real shame. I loved the old Marzocchi forks. The non adjustable travel, simple versions used to be the most durable value forks out there. I had thought the new Z2s seemed decent forks at a more reasonable price (around £600) . I will remember to give them a miss and stay with Rock Shox.
