Yes, the newer ones! Sorry to the retro crowd...
I'm about 13stone and running a pressure of about 85psi, which is about mid-range. However, I am having to run the rebound fully open to get the fork to respond fast enough and it's still not that quick. Anyone else experienced this?
Normally a fully open rebound should be like a pogo stick! I run the rebound in the middle of the range for other forks I've had - should these be any different?
To be fair, Silverfish have offered to take a look, but just wanted to see if anyone else has had his before I send 'em off.
Ta.
Brilliant forks…
I have the opposite with my Z2s. I’m running about the same air pressure and have the rebound set as 4 out from fully closed (of about 14 clicks).
I have recently changed out the airshaft to increase the travel from 120 to 140mm, changed the oil and coated everything with Sram butter – it’s even smoother now and the extra travel is a welcome addition. After much experimentation with the setup I returned the rebound setting to how it was before, and generally run the low speed compression dial at about 3 o’clock. I have also removed the single token and continue to run between 75 – 85lbs of air.
Note that many of the parts and service procedures are interchangeable with the Fox 34 rhythm forks – the airshaft I replaced is a fox branded part. For full servicing of the Z2 see here ( https://www.ridefox.com/fox17/help.php?m=bike&id=1052) as I had quite an issue locating any servicing for the Marzocchi Z2.
That's a really useful link - duly bookmarked!
Yeah, sounds similar to yourself except the rebound - also discovered mine worked loads better with the LSC about 2-3 o'clock. Currently in 140mm config on a Stif Morf. Great so far apart from the rebound seemingly getting slower over time! Def time to look into this.
I'm 14st - 90psi, 3 volume spacers, rebound 6 clicks from max. I run with the lsc around 2 o'clock mostly, full open for lumpy stuff, full closed for smooth climbs.
I'm really happy with it.
Ok, so sent off to Silverfish for warranty - super-impressed with the turnaround. Sent off on Monday 9am, returned today (Wed)!
"X1 HR shim removed which will increase flow rate through HSR circuit"
Will report back once tested...
