Marzocchi Bombers - will a new Z1 spring fit in a pair of old 55's?

I'm still a fanboi of Marz Bomber 55's. Love them and run two pairs of RC3 Ti evo in an old 26" Nukeproof Mega and '26 aint dead' BFe.

Unfortunately one of the Ti springs has broken and I'm looking for a replacement. I'm wondering if the new Z1 springs will fit. Anyone know?

(Newer Z1's are 36mm stanchions and 55's were 35mm so they might be too big....)

Interesting. I think I have some spare Ti springs from a 350 NCR. Hadn't considered they might be the right diam for another fork. Z1s are likely to be thicker walled than 55s and 350s, so that might cancel out the difference in external diameter.

Well @kelvin, since NCR are 35mm stanchions as well with a similar travel ... it's a crackpot scheme but it might just work.

If you fancy off-loading one in this direction give me a shout!

I have a new Z1 spring to go in a F36 conversion. I’ll try and find the old Ti springs and compare before the new spring gets hidden in the fork.

The Z1 is the Fox chassis isn't it? So a totally different fork, if so. It might fit but I don't think it's any more likely to fit than any other coil. The outside diameter of the leg probably isn't that meaningful, wall thickness varies loads.

Not to be negative, I'd bet money that there's a coil out there that'll work perfectly, it just might not be easy to find it.

Yeah, thanks @northwind. I suspect you're right.

*Salutes*

Still my favourite fork ever.

Sorry I can't suggest a suitable spring myself, but I'd contact all the suspension servicing places I could think of and ask if they have any ideas. I'm sure you won't be the first person needing this (or a change of spring weight).
