I was looking at these but the decals remind me of early RST's for some reason.
Marzocchi has been going through some tough times over the past few months. Their lineup will be significantly reduced for 2013 as they had trouble finding a firm to manufacture their forks. Most of the US staff left the firm and started their own company. A few articles:

Personally, I've been running Fox suspension for years, but have used Marzocchi forks in the past. I was very happy to see that Marzocchi got their design and quality up to par over the last 2 years or so and become competitive again. I fear that the problems highlighted above may mean another period of poor products form Marzocchi, though.
I didn't realise they were switching manufacturers again. I'm patiently waiting for the 55 cr with the gold stanchions. Perhaps I should bite the bullet and get the black stanchions 2012.
Thanks JoeG.
Sorry I dont buy into Mazz. Barr the misty eyed nostalga you see overpriced heavy forks. They are heavy not to last but due to less money and effort spent on engineering.
Fox win. Be interesting to see what DVO come up with but a tie in with suntour again and high prices = fail.
I ride modded 55s. Awesome 270quid forks. 700? Fox please.
Lets not forget pre Mazz buyout the Italian company was on its knees through bad products against the opposition being better...and reliable
Why? what's wrong with suntour assembling higher value forks? the cheap forks they used to make under their own name were pants but it's basically a big factory that will make what you want to the spec you want, at a price (like any other manufacturing business).
I'll wager that most of the parts still come from the same third tier supplier no matter who bolts them together.
Which era of Mazz went wrong?
From the last 1-2yrs of Italian production onwards wasnt it?
Im happy to stand corrected but bar the RC3 cart why do/did they charge soo much for open bath compared to Fox who have R&D and a good depth to their line up consistently?
They dont trade on 1999/2001 etc 😉
Manufacturing of 2013 kit has started so should be on its way soon, I guess.
But haven't they been rebuilding their reputation the last couple of years while building forks at suntour?
I believe forks are now being assembled by hodaka who have been making their rear shocks for a while.
I've been on fox shocks exclusively for the last 6 or 7 years as have the people I ride with and not had any problems with leaking or stanchions wear. However, when the wife's 2006 float started creaking recently, I felt fox have now priced themselves out of the market so got her some rs revelations for less than half what the fox would cost.
Another guy has just removed some 32 van forks to fit marzocchi 55 cr and is really happy with them.
I don't think I could justify replacing my van36 rc2 like for like if they died. I'd be looking at the 55 forks. I'm tempted by those in the pic to replace my 130 floats which are getting a bit long in the tooth now.
Open bath though- its not rocket science.
I though they switched to Suntour post-Italy close down?
I think they did for forks but hodaka have done the rear shocks for a while and have been doing suspension products since the 40s I think.
I'm being a negative Nigel but when Mazz switched to simple/old tech to solve their ATA etc gremlins I thought they'd price accordingly...they then priced similar to the competition but added a sparkly paintjob to warranty it..

Thanks JoeG, I have been following the Suntour/Marz/DVO split closely. Interesting to see how these forks compare to the 2012. My reckoning they won't be much different because of the change in manufacturing circumstances.
I can't justify new Fox forks. Their price tag is now ridiculously expensive and they no longer do the 160 36 Van. And no matter how hard I try I can't get convinced about air forks.
Yes weight will be an obvious issue with the Marz but if the price point is good and they've kept on top of quality then they will give my 32 Vans a run for the money.
early marzocchi open bath were great
i had som 99 bomber z3s and later some 02 mx pros, both were 'buttery' smooth bit heavy but reliability was ace 10 years on they are still going strong!
i then moved to fox, 3 times the price and certainly lighter and better adjustments, but those stanchions are soft and require a lot more maintenence
got some 2007 italian made 66s with rc3 cart and they are still an awesome fork(live on my dh bike) cant see any point in replacing them as they are so nice (eta works well on them too- if a bit pointless but thats travel adjust in general afaic)
recently gone back to marzocchi - 44 rc3tis, got them for half the price of the equivalent foxes and they may be slightly heavier but performance, adjustability and reliability so far is excellent
so basically avoid the 08 and 09 forks and they are pretty much brilliant
not sure where they will go after the dvo split
Also, don't know if it matters to you but it looks like the 2013 range only comes with a 2 year warranty.
Pick up some 2012s in the sale and get yourself a nice 3 year warranty!
Interesting. Didn't know they'd cut back on the warranty.
gah... i want some 44 micro ti's for a (potential) blur trc build, and they have only gone and bloody discontinued them!
Might have to find some NOS 2011 or 2012 ones.
Dave
but no idea on dates?
open bath for the win sod the weight..
**** the Fox maintain every 2 hours lark, and price!
alfabus can I go out with you and bum you? That way we can share bicycles..
I don't care who makes them, I'd buy a set of 55s...
...provided that they weren't £800 apiece.

Sod the weight??? What kind of an answer is that?? Before you insult fox, I think the reviews speak for themselves!
I've always used fox and never had a problem, I don't mind paying a premium price for a premium brand.
And I've done a hell of a lot of riding around serious terrain, guiding around the alps!
When I say that I've been on Fox for years, I mean the same fork and shock since late 2007! They have been great for me.
But I don't like to mess around with my suspension while riding, so the new Fox climb/trail/descend business may make me look elsewhere when I decide to upgrade or get a new bike.
As far as the decline of Marzocchi, here is what I remember:
- In the last few years of Italian ownership, they outsourced production of their lower end forks to Asia and there were some quality issues with those. Forks made in Italy were fine.
- Tenneco (BIG US car parts conglomerate) bought Marzocchi, mainly for the motorcycle part of the business. All production was outsourced to Asia. Big time quality problems 2008-09!!!
- Since then, quality has improved. I have read a number of positive reviews of Marzocchi forks over the last two years. Marzocchi was back as a fist rate suspension provider!
- This year Marzocchi failed to reach a new agreement with Suntour to build their 2013 forks. Much of the US staff quit. Marzocchi finds another firm to produce product, but has to drastically reduce their product lineup due to the switch.
- Only time will tell if they can weather this situation successfully.
Blimey only one 44 model this year 🙁
Really? Why rationalise their range? Stocking/production costs etc?

By heck lad don't let yer knickers get In a twist I'm sure you are de man who can by your guiding knowledge etc.
A bit if weight from open bath ain't no worries for me as I ain't a pro so no need to fret
Some of us can't pay a premium like yourself even if could I wouldn't buy fox ever again
Mazz sTanctions are the dogs bollox

I suspect it's to do with getting new factory up and running - easier to start with a smaller range and build up?

who gives himself the username mtbguru 🙄
JoeG, from your timeline you missed Tenneco announcing earlier this year that they were pulling out of the MTB market which was hardly going to give partners faith.

Pricing has little to do with R+D spend and more to do with image and market placement. Marz want to be seen as a high-end manufacturer so they price their products to match the competition in that area of the market. My 2010 RC3Tis are the best forks I've ever had (but then I'm not some guiding yoda who knows fox is awesomez...)
The range was reduced because Suntour parts were used in the models that aren't being produced for 2013. Marzocchi are working on the replacement parts and I suspect they will be back to the full line up for 2014. Dont know who they've got making them though.
As regards price; 55 CR will be £499.95 RRP and the 55 R £399.95 RRP
Capt.Kronos the X-Fusion Trace range from £545 to £680 depending on what model you go for
Really not interested in reviews, all about performance and reliability/ease of servicing for me (as I do it all myself), and in that respect Marz are great. The rc3 ti models are the nicest feeling forks I've ever ridden, 888s and 44s.
Very interested in what DVO come out with too.
I've been really impressed with the 2010 44RC3ti on my five. Bloody brilliant performer and the only fork that has lasted more than 9 months for me so far. I won't have Fox or RS again through choice.
Was really happy when I managed to pick up a 2011 66RC3ti with 60% off at CRC earlier this year. Bargaintastic. 😀
Now building a Patriot to hang it on.
I really hope they manage to sustain the 2010-2012 quality and reliability.
why don't companies just offer 1 model at each type i.e. The 2013 55, The 2013 888? Surely the costs saved on tooling up, painting different models etc could then be passed onto the buyer & company seen as doing something different...being innovative.
what i mean is, why have the 55CR, 55RCV, 55ATA & then the 55RC3Ti? the 55RC3Ti is the best out of the lot, so if you binned off all the rest, had 1 colour per year and priced it at £600 (rather than the £800 or whatever they RRP for) or so they'd not only sell like hot cakes, but be so much easier to produce, you'd buy more stock from manuf's so would get a better price, much easier for servicing & warranty.
does the industry need someone to come in a shake it up a bit like this?
I bought a set of 55RC3Ti from that wiggle sale - £450. did Mz / Wiggle lose money on that sale or did they still make something even though they were 1/2 price??
Sod the weight??? What kind of an answer is that?? Before you insult fox, I think the reviews speak for themselves!

Seems like we need to go to you for all the answers then eh?
I've ridden Fox forks for the best part of 15 years on towpaths and even down steps!! Never had a problem and have found them utterly dependable. However there is a lot who have not.
However...
Ignoring options because you are familiar with an now ridiculously over-inflated 'premium' brand is a tad naive. If the likes of Mazz, and X-fusion (and perhaps DVO) continue to hit the price point with quality then why go with Fox apart from being brand centric? I think it's insulting of Fox to think we're all now brain-washed to keep buying into the brand.
Don't get me wrong, I too would still like to stick with a Fox coil fork fork but they stopped the 160 Van but more importantly my wages aren't 'pro' enough and my wife may just death me.
Fox stuff looks lovely, but they change the internals every flippin' year and push the prices through the roof incrementally. If I'm completely honest I'm not nearly good enough as a rider to justify the extra cost of a Fox fork over something which offers 9/10ths the performance at a lower price. No qualms here about buying X-Fusion or whatever.
My gut feeling is that my ~ Marzocchis are the kind of forks that myself and a good blacksmith could keep operating for some number of years, whereas if fox forks go wrong they're just fodder for the recycling bin. I'm not saying I haven't seen Marzocchi's fail (although mainly the 08/09 ones). but I've seen a lot more fox forks that have gone wrong, and given the price difference I'd be happy to gamble on Marzocchi again. Looking forward to seeing what DVO come up with.
CTM - thanks for the link to the Marz article on Hadoka. Hopefully they won't have the difficulties that they had the last time they switched manufacturing location.
As a consumer, I want a number of healthy suspension manufacturers pushing each other to develop improvements and new technology. I also want there to be enough competition that there is pressure to keep prices reasonable. I think that X Fusion will play a big role here.
Totally agree and be great to see Xfusion and DVO succeed and shake up the market. Oddly the tenneco "we're dropping marzocchi mountain bike products" press release seems to have disappeared...
Here's what the DVO boys have been up to

yup, saw that too. A bit of a marmite look. On the whole I think they look pretty good, I don't mind the green but those decals, OMG those decals. Does someone not know how to design graphics?
"Hey guys look, Photoshop does bevel and emboss!" 😯
And before anyone flames my by saying "they're just stickers", yeah I know. I'm being picky. 😀
I ordered and paid for a pair of 2013 55CRs last October direct from Italy. They've been put back month after month and I'm now being told 20th January.
I spoke to Windwave(UK Importer)and they said Nov12 then Dec12 and are now also saying end of Jan.
So I haven't really gained by ordering from Italy.
UK Bike store are offering these beauties but I guess they still don't have the stock in yet.

Quick thread resurrection.
They've been out for a while and most shops seem to be selling out fairly quickly so some of you guys must have them.
Anyone have them yet and how do they feel?
Seriously considering changing in the next month.
Anyone want some Fox Vans? 😉
