Saw them setting up at the top of the lift. Didn't want to get in the way so left them to it.
Bit interesting, ran into a fella riding one of the buggies out there and shared a lift with him, was a bit grumpy about Martyn as he was wheeling himself around and doing all his own stuff. Think they ran into each other and caught up at some point over the week.
Got total respect for Martyn and what he has achieved there and rode past them setting up at the top there - watching the vid and hoping I'm not being over taken on there!!

What an inspiration!

With everything we are going through, seeing this really made me feel more positive about things. Anything is possible, just need the right input to get there.

Would love to meet him. I am sure Mrs G would too, if only to hear his story and how he has overcome every obstacle he has faced.

Really made me smile. Thanks OP 😀

Made my weekend has that. Growing up reading about him in mbuk he was an inspiration. He continues to be one now. Legend is a title frequently used but in this case it's valid.

And isn't Blake Sampson a nice lad!

Brilliant stuff, this is what e-bikes should be all about.

I'm confused by the ebike bit; does his not require any pedalling?

Plus he does not do bedhead well.

Otherwise great 🙂

Excellent piece and incredibly inspirational I think. If I was faced with the challenges he has been, not sure I would be as positive and pushing things how he is.

Amazing. Sometimes I think I 'can't' do something, no such thing as can't.

wow

I know, I post some awesome stuff.

I assume you know the answer as to why a pedal-assist bike is useful to a chap that can't pedal, which I don't, so if you could explain it to me, that would be great. Thanks.

Use simple words though; I get confused easily.

Thx in advance

Edit. Sorry I was being lazy. Googled story instead. Get it know. Pls ignore ^

great vid.

p.s. not all ebikes are pedal assist, you can get them with a throttle.

I never knew that was a thing. Ta for the explanation (without being a dick about it, as above).

That was superb. Some "interesting" editing of trail footage at the beginning, but I'll forgive that

Best thing about it is the stupid grin he gets when he rides.

Fantastically uplifting. I uSed to have outpatient appointments at a disability services near me and the case studies on the wall of what they'd helped people achieve against all the odds were amazing. Really does inspire others to go for it regardless of their disability. I hope they're still funded despite all the cuts.

I genuinely feel lucky to have spent just day with Martyn and the GMBN crew here in Whistler. He truly is a special individual surrounded by an extremely nice bunch of guys!
I wish I had even 10% of his infectious positivity!

Mikewsmith, is this the cart guy you met on the lift?

He appears to be very keen on maintaining independence.

That's him, he wheels himself over to the lift hops on and the liftie pops the buggy on, then off at the top and over to A-Line, he really doesn't see his disability (or disability) as a limitation just a difference. Interesting chat to say the least on the way up there.

Great action by his lead-out man at 7:50, does he have eyes in the back of his head?
