Wondering if any previous owners can help - thinking of getting one of these 2nd hand as my first full susser - but looking at things the top tube is significantly shorter than my on one scandal - admittedly a totally different type of bike for different riding.....
My 18 inch scandal has a 605mm top tube. I think the 17.5 inch Marin has a 55ish TT and the 19 inch Marin 605mm! So I don't want to knee the bars every pedal stroke but also don't want to be riding a gate!
I'm 5'9" and have a 30 inch inside leg for what it's worth. Not sure I can get a test ride - this will be an ebay purchase. I'm erring towards the 19 incher
Any previous owners/riders able to advise?
TIA
5'7, 30 inch ISL and had the 17.5 inch wolf ridge, fitted fine. Great bikes, just keep the rear dropouts tight along with the skewer.
Thanks - so inside leg OK but what was the reach like?
I'm thinking of short stem/wide bars so will the 17.5 have enough reach?
5'9" with a 30" inside leg. I rode a medium and found it a little bit short. My large Nukeproof mega TR with a 610 eTT is a much better fit.
Fit for me was fine with 60mm stem and 720mm bars, zero layback post and seat mid to forward position on post due to shonky knee's. Just remember its not a XC bike so position is a bit more sit up and beg.
I run a Marin Quake in 15.5 and that is a bit small for me on all day XC stuff.
I'd go 19" and shorten the stem; it was also my first full susser. It has a real 'big bike' feel.
I'm going to put mine on ebay, so will send you a link when I do. You wont find many for sale, for the simple reason, their owners love them. Mines a 19" Wolf ridge 6.8 in Orange.
Since my son was born, 18 months ago, it hasnt had a look in. Sticking to hard tail and road bike only. 😕
