Im looking to get something a little more beefy than my heckler, I have really enjoyed riding the heckler but I know think im starting to want to play more than do distance. I have always liked Marin`s, had a Marin indian fire trail 1st bike and loved it and had a Whyte, but I have always liked the look of the quake but don't know much about them. Does anyone own one to say how they perform?

Ridden one quite a bit a few years ago. I liked it and it rode pretty well. The suspension pedalled really well, especially for a heavy bike. People said they could be a bit flexy on the rear end but I never noticed on the one I borrowed and that only had a qr rear end.

Shaums March won the Masters DH on it won year against bikes with more travel. And not being one of the 'cool' bikes you should be able to get one pretty cheap if you look around. Especially if you go frame only.

Not sure if they made one with a bolt thru rear or not.
