Shall I try doing it myself- they take a beating at BPW so I could do regularly if I know what to do. Where do I get the stuff from- is TF tuned the best for bits and advice? Is it easy? I know there’s some special tools I need, but I’m happy to have a go at most jobs.

There's a massive thread on mtbr with all the info you need and the official Manitou video on YouTube.

Whether it's easy or not is hard to answer. I've serviced blackbox Revs, a Marzocchi 350 and it's no harder than those

It is really piss easy to. Make sure you get the latest one piece seals (141-34000). I use supergliss 100k in the lowers.

Not serviced mine yet but took them apart for a travel change when I first got them - super easy with the (eye wateringly expensive) proper tools.

I was thinking of making the cassette tool thing myself, a mate has a load of metal working tools, I’ve got the flat socket, and I think I have a small socket and extension. Not sure if it’s thin enough though.

I'd do a lowers service, if its feeling ok I'd leave it at that. It's easy, you don't need the thinwall socket. An Allen key works fine. I loosen the footbolt with a standard socket then wind it the rest of the way with an Allen key (reverse thread). Only slight issue is reverse torque settings. I have an old spring type torque wrench that just about works.

For some reason I can't edit my post, I misread it as going to BPW. Either way they're pretty easy to work on.

Jamesoz cheers I think I will look for that on YouTube. Will I need a crush washer like on Fox forks?

No crush washers as they screw into the legs. The newer seals are so much better

Is it best to get the seals from TFT, or just get the kit from CRC?
