Has anyone ever come across a qr or fixed lever end for a manitou hexlock axle? Not entirely sure it is even possible due to the retained bolt doing the work rather than the axle. Searching hasn't indicated one way or the other. It's for a set of machetes if that makes a difference.
Quite what a attaché lever is only predictive text knows. Attached lever!
Anyway some better searching and I've answered my own question. You can change a hexlock SL to hexlock Qr but the SL is considered superior as stiffer and lighter.
Hiya,
I’m not a massive fan of the hexlock sl myself, had it come loose more than a few times, and also bind (then release with a massive CRACK) even when torqued to spec.
However, the manitou QR we have on the mattoc is surely the worst thru axle QR implementation in existence.
We’ve had the bike for years, had the wheel off and on many times, but still every time requires an incantation to Norse gods, group praying, calling Uri Geller and nerves of steel.
Funniest thing is giving it to a manitou Noob and asking them to take the wheel off/on. Just watch for maybe 2hrs before they Chuck bike and wheel away in anger 😆
That's seals it. Doesn't sound like it makes it any easier which defeats the point! Thanks for the feedback.
I would like to disagree. Although sometimes the qr can go wrong if not aligned properly, and can cause some frustration, it mostly works perfectly and is much quicker than any alternative and also easier to adjust. And I've used a lot of other forks, Fox, Rockshox, BOS, Suntour.
