Travelling up there from the west mids next thursday cause my daughters off to Prtugal for the week. Just wondering if theres anything in the area worthwhile to take my mtb for?
Thanks Nath
Macc Forest is just over 20mins from the airport 🙂
Loads round marple as well.
I'd love to know how to get from the airport to macc Forrest in 20 mins..
I'd take a detour via the Peak District on the way back.
Marple/Roman lakes is probably closest, 25 mins away in the car (I live 5 mins from the airport)
Macc Forest is 45 mins or so. Both have some good rides, I'd say Roman lakes though as its my local. If you fancy an epic you can ride from Marple all the way over the peak.
Have a non-techy, lovely ride round South Manchester.
Yes, I know I always slag it off, but in reality it's rather nice.
You could hit Dunham Massey or Tatton Park, have a pint in Didsbury or Chorlton & have a ride round the Water Park or along the Mersey.
Ride into central Manchester if you have time, it's friendly but bring a biiiiiiiig lock.
A bit further on & you hit Lee & Crag Quarries & Gisburn. You cld even get an overnight at Tosside there.
Okay maybe just over 20min was pushing it but 30min is perfectly realistic outside of rush hour. I've done Macc Forest to West Didsbury in 27mins before at around 9pm and that's a little bit further. Then again I do sometimes drive like a crazed lunatic 😉
Both Marple and Macc Forest have some great riding but the benefit of Macc Forest is that the OP will be on the right side of the Peaks to return home and won't have to deal with the (most probably) gridlocked traffic around Stockport.
