Is it easy to take your own Road bike and any experiences of problems?
I was planning on having early am spins then pool/swim in the sea for the rest of the day 8)
Took my own road bike to Mallorca last year, cost a chunk then got charged extra for it being heavier on their scales than mine going out. Coming back they didn't give a shit about that.
Wouldn't bother and would take my own pedals and hire one.
For a week, I'd hire one. Longer and I'd take my own.
Its easy enough, we took mountain bikes out to majorca a couple of years ago, just make sure youre within the weight limits specified by the airline and make sure the bike is well padded in the bag.
It's easy, pack in bike bag, take to airport, go ride at other end.
Personally I wouldn't rent as I like my own bike that's sized and setup for me.
Millions of people fly every year with bikes to Mallorca, and have done for years. Stop over thinking and just do it.
£30 sports bag with Easyjet it's easy
Just take in to account the cost of flying the bike. Then the extra to transfer it to and from airport.
Often its cheaper/easier to just hire if only for a weeks riding.
very easy. jet2 have a generous bike policy and only 30 quid each way. no probs at airport and i stashed loads of other stuff in there.
a solid plastic box with wheels that i rented was a revelation compared to my previous cardboard box in a nylon bike bag routine.
trouble with renting is it takes most of the holiday to get it set up right IME.
i think it was £30 with Thomson airlines too, just bang it in a bike bag and thats it.
