off to visit me mam with the family at the end may next year. She lives about an hour north of malaga. I have a couple of days reserved for shredding the gnar. any tips for day trips/guiding with a reputable company?  ta!

I get the impression you're not interested but climbing the Veleta was the one of the grimmest experiences I have ever had on a mountain bike. Avoid.

haha thanks. no not that interested in  'the road', more enduro/dh guiding in and around malaga at that time of year. it's summer and hot, but i'm hoping there must be a company that will shuttle/ guide me

Switchbacks, RoostMTB and SierraMTB are all located in the area. They tend to do weeks but might be able to accomodate you for a day if you ask.

Try Nathan at www.enduromalaga.com. Not been myself but have heard great reports. He's an Irish guy that has set up out there.

sierra MTB is full!  Switchbacks was recommended but yes May and Malaga may be problematic due to heat. Has anyone been to Bubion where they ride in the summer? Any good? how is it compared to Malaga?

Some of the lads we were in Malaga with have ridden in Bubion and reckon the longer trails in the mountains just edge it and Bubions a place with a bit more character.

Ciclo Montana. Marko is a top bloke.

He once took me and Mrsstu up the Valeta pass in a van.😵

Then we rode down the back side of the mountain all the way back to Fondales.

Great ride but I'd not want to ride up the tarmac to do it.

I enjoyed bubion, switchbacks and ciclo basically operating on the same trail network there. Personally I would go with SB as they are based in Bubion which has lots of places to eat, and a bike shop.

I had a great time with Ride Sierra Nevada a few years ago but I don’t know if they’re still going or not.

Bit further away but Pure Mountains have some awesome riding - proper Gnarnatural stuff and high enough the heat is not an issue - we were there in early June and it is top. Jenny and Tim are super helpful so may be able to do a day or two.

I'm going to try and book a week this Winter. I'm thinking of going with Sierra MTB, anyone had any experience with them?

enduromalaga looks like a touch. single day for 99 donkers is a bit pricey (we only paid about that for 2 days tag along with a Switchbacks group...) but ill be giving them a shout if i find myself down that way in silly season.

we were there at the end of April. wasnt too hot, was lovely infact. and no problem with the uplift, although we had a couple of days on our own and pedalling up the fire road out of Mijas was pretty sweaty! end of may could be a different story....

As per nc21 I am one of those "lads" (an auld one at that!!)

So our "team leader" has decided that we will return to Bubion next year (14th Sept). The trails and guiding(Hilde...mmmm)were awesome. However there was a bit of a lacking in "atmosphere" re being able to wander down to a cafe/pub/ restaurant as in Bubion... a bit too town/city feel and a lot of stuff closed on a Sunday. Good food in the places we were directed to via Mike?Luki.....

Not to take away from the Malaga "experience" where we had the pleasure of one of Mikes friends cooking us a proper Spanish Paella and a magnificent BBQ we missed the "village" atmosphere v town and a bit of a walk...

You won`t be disappointed whichever holiday you choose..

Next year will be my 4th @Bubion

need to upload this years trip

There is one company in Spain which stops mid ride for TWO HOUR (!) lunch breaks. Someone told me but I forgot the name. Does anyone know which one this is?
