Heading out to Lanjarron with the family. Really want to take 2 MTBs with us.

Hire car companies completely unhelpful with things like roof racks, or guarantees about hired car size to fit 2 bikeboxes.

So trying to work out options.

a) Some kind of van transfer and a cheaper hire car

b) some way of leaving the boxes at the airport (again, car hire places particularly unhelpful)

Anyone got any suggestions?

Hire bikes out there?

just come back from Spain and we managed to get 2 decent Meridas for a couple of days it’ll be loads cheaper than a car and a van.

7 days hire, potentially.

Backwards brakes?

Sh1t bikes?

So in the hire bikes vein, anywhere recommended on the SW edge of the Sierra Nevada, in Lanjaron (near Alpujarras)

Can’t recommend a hire place as we got our from Nerja which is proberbly 1.5 hours away from you!

as I said we got Merida 120 FS bikes. Full SLX group but no dropper

I took my spd pedals and the shop put them on for me.

Didn’t like the rockshox sector forks and the (shimano) brakes were the wrong way round but 10 minutes with a multi tool and I’d swapped them round!

We only had 2 days but a week would have been 170e

5 days 130e

dont know if that’s any help at all...

oh I downloaded wikiloc for routes, it worked well for us. You need to pay a small amount for the mapping guidance to work but it’s really good!

Seasucker bike rack?

Fits in yer airline bike bag, and goes on any car. Costs a bit though, but if you bought one, and then sold it on after the holiday, might be less than rental companies extortion for racks.

Google came up with this:  http://www.alpujarrabikes.com  - up the hill from Orgiva, which in turn is about 15 minutes from Lanjaron. Looks to be British run, might be worth an e-mail enquiry.

British run indeed. That's my brother and his Mrs shop. In Bubion.  They have bikes for hire.info@alpujarrabikes.com if you want to enquire.

Try the Orgiva Massive FB page. Few van people offer airport runs, bike transfer shouldn’t be a problem.
