I wanted to plot local off-road routes on my PC export to my phone in .gpx format and build some variation into my training regime- end up doing the same routes over and over again.... Basically I need the ability to plot routes either using Google maps or open source similar What web based tools do people use to do this?
No money for a Garmin right now so my phone is the only option.
Bikehike is my go to app for plotting routes.
I use mapmyride to make routes and then export them to google drive/ dropbox
On the phone have backcountry navigator installed and can import the GPX from google drive. Or you can upload the GPX to strava as a route and then follow it using strava.
I paid for the full version of backcountry navigator as you can download OS map tiles for bing - for £9.99 its easily the cheapest way of getting OS mapping on your phone.
Viking GPS is the dedicated software not-in-a-browser option.
Bikehike
Bikehike looks excellent- thanks a lot everyone.
I use plotaroute - not tried Bikehike, but will have a look at it as well.
Bike Hike is great, once uploaded to ViewRanger you can edit further, move/add/delete waypoints
