I've a SS and i'm keen to try a big wheel in the front. Do i need a 29er fork or will a standard 26" ridgid fork work with a 29er wheel/tyre?

Cheers

Usually that will work with a suspension corrected 26" rigid fork, and it's better than using a 29er fork because the amount the steering head will be lifted will be minimised.

Depends.....

What frame is it?

When I tried a 29'' wheel on the front of my HT designed for a 100mm fork I actually went down in fork size to reduce the overall height of the front end.

E.g. frame was designed with a 440mm rigid fork in mind so I went down to a 425mm fork to counter the effect of the larger wheel.

Don't go up in size though e.g. a 470mm+ fork

😀

My Inbred with standard rigid fork fits a 29" wheel with ease.Still not convinced it rides any better, just do it when I just fancy a bit of a change.....
