Never had the dreadded chainsuck with my current set up but on todays ride everytime i tried to push a small gear with any power, sucktastic.....really pissed me off! 🙁

Any ideas what the cause may be as i'm stumped although i suspect it has something to do with the inner ring on my 2 x 9 set up, could the chain need replacing and would this perhaps be the cause?

Any ideas gratefully received!

😀

You need a new granny ring it's always that, prolly a new chain too

Yep, the teeth on the ring will be pulled a little off center from use, so they grab the chain as it exits the ring, and bang - it gets stuck.

Probably.... but use a chain checker, or measure you chain... you need a new chain, chainrings and cassette. If you put a new ring and chain on, chances are it'll skip on the cassette and the middle ring.

But... first, clean and lube up your chain, and drivetrain and see if that fixes it. No point spending money if you can solve it with lube 🙂

Give it a good once over for any burrs and take a file to them, might eke out a few more miles?

Hell yes......was at Glentress, redemption/Deliverence were under water, surprisingly not too muddy though. Bloody cold too, around 2 degrees and a snowstorm at the top, glad i'm home and dry!
