Bought a brake assembly on its own for first time, magura mt7. While shortening the hose, I somehow thought the hose bolt at the lever should be flush, and was turning it with significant torque (although thankfully the 8mm wrench was quite short). I realised I'm being stupid and winded it back.. I'm feeling a bit paranoid now about having damaged something due to the big warnings on instruction videos about applying 4nm.. Anything I should check, or if its working assume all is good?
If its not leaking its probably fine
it compresses an olive down and makes a seal
don't wind it back, just leave it
As above. I did an mt7 last week, just wound it to tightish then pulled lever no leak, rode it today checking for leaks, nine so I'm happy with it as it is.
I had some mt7 weirdness a while back. Holding pressure on the lever it slowly came back to the bars. No leaks. However nipping up the lever compression bolt stopped this, very odd. It it was leaking at this joint this would make sense, but it wasn't.
Had the first ride today, no leaks or signs of problems, guess I got away with it, will be more mindful when the second one is here. 🙂 the brake feeling is very nice in this one!
