Hi all 🙂 I've been trying to bleed my front mt4 with not much success, I have watched the Magura video countless times and to the best of my knowledge I am following it exactly. I'm using the Magura service kit syringes and royal blood and I'm pulling and pushing the fluid a lot more than the guy on the video does and when I see no more air bubbles at either end I disconnect everything properly , I think, but the brake still has a soft mushy feel and does not lock my wheel properly at speed. Its an as new brake and wasn't that bad before I started but I wanted a more solid lever so I tried to bleed it, wish I hadn't now 🙁 any help much appreciated thanks
There must still be air in the system.
I'm not familiar with that particular brake, but I can remember older systems where you had to really force the air out by pushing a large volume of fluid through with some force.
If there is no air in the fluid and you are spilling oil from the lever and caliper when refitting the bleed bolts, the only other explanation I could imagine would be a hose failing and expanding under pressure.
Never seen that on a push bike though.
As I say they are new so I can't see it being a hose expanding , but you are correct I must not be removing all the air but I've tried everything but the lever always comes to the bars !It's driving me nuts !!!
Im yet to try this method myself but people on the Magura forums seem to say it works.
I also have the same issues with my MT4 brakes

Thanks Euans2 I am def trying that method tomorrow , will let you know how it goes 🙂
If they are new your pads won't be bedded in properly that's why your wheel won' t lockout, or maybe if they've been stood for a while or of course they could he contaminated.
Try the old elastic band on the lever trick and leave overnight
Hi euans2 I tried it and they are much better, I'm going to do it again this week the same way but smaller than an 8mm allan key to improve it even more , but thanks for the link 🙂
No worries, I'll need to give it a try myself some time.
