Having more of a challenge than I expected in setting up a pair of Laurins, but then google reveals this is quite normal and once settled in it will be leave ride and forget. What I can not find is anything more than get out, ride and fettle until it is sorted. Any first hand advice? Forks appear first rate other than my impatience.

Issues I have are;
a) If I set any sag the fork blows through travel and bottoms out all the time.
b) More pressure added - sorted out bottom out issue , but solid distinct thud when fork hits full extension when lifting bars and no sag. More than anything it is this thud which is annoying.

I have read the manual and been on the magura UK help pages, but setting the sag seems to be the first step and the first "fail" part for me.

Everything works on fork, rebound, albert select and pressure holds fine.

My experience with Durins is that you should set sag to about 25% when standing on the pedals. Magura's are very linear forks so the do use full travel easily. If they still bottom out add pressure in 5psi increments until they feel how you like. As for the top out there may be a problem with the top out elastomer. If these have trvael adjust are you charging the negative chamber when you inflate the spring?

Some people suggest adding a little drop of oil into the air chamber which stiffens up the last bit of travel. I thought of doing this to my Menja but I quite like their rustic natural style.

You tried stripping em, changing the oil & rebuilding? They're pretty much the same as Rebas etc. when it comes to a simple service and that will at least confirm there's nothing amiss with the internals. Oil volumes are on Magura site & you can get away with a 20ish oil for the damper if you want to do that too. A fem ml of oil in the spring makes them a bit more progressive, but my Laurins do like to use 80% of their travel quite readily.
