Hi guys I have a set of magura brakes I want to install and I've realised that unlike shimano you cannot just tighten up the hose nut into the MC until it goes snug. Is this a case of buying a crows foot adaptor for my torque wrench and then figuring out the new torque setting with it fitted or is there an easier way? Thanks

I don’t know, I had some MT5 levers/MC and didn’t use a torque wrench.  If you do use a crows foot so long as you can get the wrench at 90 degrees the torque setting is correct.

Thanks I'm very nervous about not using one now after reading about how weak the plastic is of the MC.

Always just used an 8mm spanner when changing/shortening hoses on MT4&5 brakes.

Just don't be a ham fisted gorilla and it'll be fine.

It's utter bobbins, just think about what you're doing and it'll be fine. The complaints about weak mc are from people who shouldn't be let near a spanner, ever. And that's from someone who, first time they did the same job, wasn't paying a lot of attention and used a ring spanner. Doh.

and I’ve realised that unlike shimano you cannot just tighten up the hose nut into the MC until it goes snug.

This is *exactly* what you do, just remember snug for a little nut is not snug for a cassette or bottom bracket. A crows foot isn't anything too mysterious or specialist and you "should" be using one on your current brakes for the same job. Everything will have torque specs, shimano or hope or magura and you "should" be following them already.

Assuming it's still in the garage I've got an old mc you can practice on if you like.
I did break it, the lever snapped from the body...
In a crash...
That snapped bars and forks...
And a shoulder three ribs a hand and two fingers too.

Thanks for all the help guys and the offer dangeourbrain but I went ahead and did it with a spanner, after ordering am 8mm crowsfoot anyway. Front worked well but rear seems to need a bleed now so off to buy some royal blood! It never ends this buying with bikes!
