So, the rubber strap on my Magicshine MJ-880 broke the other day from being stretched around fat handlebars. Was never a big fan of the stock Magicshine mount anyway, so didn't want to go out and just replace it like for like.
Thorough search of t'interweb came up with this adapter from a bloke in the States that allows you to fit the Magicshine to any GoPro type mount...of which there are loads and some really nice ones from K-Edge including a combination one that mounts the GoPro, or Magicshine, directly below a Garmin cycle computer.

$23 Ordered 26 Dec, arrived 9 Jan.
He also does adapters for other Magicshine lights.
Thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else wants options mounting their Magicshine lights.
I use a hope light adaptor on mine, can be had for less than a tenner on CRC, so this is another alternative if you have an older style magicshine with the M4 bolt mount.
Nice to know there are other mounting options tho. Some helmets have a gopro mount now, so this would allow easy light mounting.
OP - did you just PM the guy that posted on MTBR?
Also, do you have a link to the Garmin / magicshine adapter that you mention?
Many thanks
WW

+1 for hope mount.
Me too with the hope mount on my cheapmoters ebay magi shine clone. I just had to remove the arched section that fits over the bar.
