We're of for a bit of cycle touring soon and the planned departure point is Maentwrog. Can anyone local to the area recommend a spot where we can leave our vehicles in realtive safety for a few days, please?

Thanks in advance

Oakley arms pub may let you?

Head up the road by the pub signposted to Rhyd. Opposite a lake theres a NRW car park that would probably be fine. Though its quite small. A bit further on there's a fire road crossroad just past the railway bridge that has a small car park both sides of the road.

I lived just up the road for 3 years. Would happily leave my car there.

Thanks Chris, that sounds ideal as we're heading out that way anyway

There is Trawsfynydd power station a little way up the road. If you go past the power station there is an overflow carpark at the rear. Its cctv secure and 24hr security on site so should be safe. If its over a weekend Its quiet as its only maintenanance staff and security that are working. Im sure if you go to the gate house and ask nicely they would let you.

Why not on the street in Maentwrog? It's not a mecca for vandalism. I lived in the Grapes for a few years a long time ago.

We'll be there for a few days and maentwrog looks like the roads are quite narrow (based on google street view) so dont want to leave cars somewhere they might be in the way

There’s a car park at the rear of the Grapes Hotel, ask the landlord, should be fine.

Good food there as well.

Failing that, park at the Trawsfynydd Power station lakeside cafe car park.

Start your touring around the lake cycly path, nice little bimble.

Just to follow up on this, we called the Oakeley Arms, the Grapes and the cafe as suggested, and none were able to help. We ended up parking in Porthmadog and had no issues,
