Any thoughts on a rebuildable, serviceable cable operated rear mech in a cycling culture where derailleurs costing hundreds of pounds are about to become the norm?

Given the Jab costs €325 plus vat/shipping (€450 total for me). i suspect it's not solving issues you might have

SRAM probably do a better job of addressing them with Transmission 70 at a quarter of the price, lots of spares available

Great news for all the folk whinging there were no premium cable operated rear mechs since leccy took over. Apart from Ingrid. And Vivo.

Are they about to become “the norm”?

Possibly at the premium end of the market I suppose. The more interesting thing about the JAB is that it can have the cable pulley changes to allow compatibility with different shifters and cassettes. That is of interest.

the rebuildability is only of interest if they’re going to stay in business for a long while to sell spare parts. How does everyone really rate their chances?

Tough to compete, but they are doing good stuff with the rebuild kits and other products, so hope they succeed

It's a premium product selling a long term ideal.

I like the rebuildable design. Much like I've rebuilt my hope brakes. I've also rebuilt XT derailleurs so I've 3 spare m8000 11 speed currently sat in a drawer.

I think they may survive as a niche product. If someone like hope produced them I reckon they'd do well (loyal fan base and a new product into their line up)

Hope they succeed
