Powys cycling shop announces closure one year after moving
I'm sure that Bernard Kerr said he'd bought (or was buying/taking over) the shop in a recent Ride Companion YouTube video.
Sad to see another LBS closing.
I wasn't even aware there was a shop in Mach. Which may explain something about why it's closing. We've been lucky not to need any work when up there but it would sure be useful when you do.
It's something i'd LOVE to have a crack at, running my own bike shop. But it seems to be a very very tough gig in terms of actually making any money, hence why i've not.

Not been to Mach for years, but there used to be at least two bike shops IIRC. Bought a few things from one of them at least....
Not many people live round there to make a bike shop plausible
I think there is a living to be had from fixing bicycles but I also think it is very feast and famine. I mostly fix my own but do use a couple of local shops and if I go in in winter they can be very quiet, they say that in bad weather less people ride so less bike to fix.
As for selling bikes and clothing, thats a whole nother scary business with a lot of risk and outlay.
Went in there a few weeks back, my mate needed a new water bottle as the top of his had flown off (don't ask me how!) somewhere on the long (and very fast in places!) road descent from top of the valley above Dylife to Mach. We were bike packing the Trans Cambrian and Traws Eryri routes,

And most of the people that do, won't have a lot of money to blow on nice cycling stuff.
