I'm off for easter being a teacher and haven't been riding yet this week. Did the marin trail on saturday and thriving to get out again. I'll be by myself so really need some help for a route round Macclesfield forest. I'm in Altrincham so not far away. Any help would be brilliant. Can't read maps so directions would be better or a fool proof map. Much appreciated.
I think you can get a printed one from the rangers hut at one of the car parks near trentabank reservoir.
Combined with an OS map of the forest you shouldnt go far wrong.
There is an MBR map too, have a look in their archive online.
There's a route in the 'V' graphics white Peak book.
Be aware that once in the forest it could be busy with walkers, dogs and Small children, over the Bank holiday weekend. The trails around the outskirts should be fine for you to blast around.
Also be aware that the forestry commission are clearing vast swathes of trees, making it a more exposed route through the forest. With the clearing work comes large plant machinery, which has in turn churned up the long down hill back towards Ridgegate Ressy.

haven't been around the forest sections for months due to forestry work, so can't say what condition they are in but there is alot more interesting riding around the forest. start at tegg's nose head down saddlers and up to charity and down to wildboar clough is all clear and from there you can either head into the goyt or to 3 shires head and up too gradbach the choice is yours. easter weekend you should have alot of company 😉
Thanks repatriot but that means nothing to me. I haven't done any riding in the peaks or surrounding area. I'm from Wales but live in Manchester for work at the mo. I can't read maps, can't read instructions, so all in all not a good excuse for a mountain biker. I'm a teacher so been off this week and want to get out. But being by myself and unable to do any of the required skills do get round a natural route I'm ****ed. BORED!
