Hi guys and girls
I'm looking to go 1x11 so I hope to put an 11speed shaimano m8000 xt rear mech, 42 cassette, chain and right shifter on my mega
My question is I currently have 1x10 with a superstar 32 narrow wide on my 10 speed double xt cranks
Will this mix work also will I be OK with the short cage mech
Many thanks
Pete
Also anyone want to buy the xt/slx 10 speed I'm going to take off eg front and rear mech shifters chain and cassette

That'll be fine. M8000 is only medium and long cages iirc.

Bluntly, the cassette and rear mech don't care what's going on at the front. A 7/8spd chain may not work as well on a Narrow/Wide ring as they're a little wider, but 10 & 11 spd chains are the same internal width so will work equally as well on your existing chainring.

I'm running that with a hope narrow wide. Works perfectly. As mboy states the front makes little difference to the rear.
The only issue I had was a grinding noise because my chainring was slightly worn. I turned the chainring round and everything has been perfect and silent since.
