Anyone had similar problems with this model of brake?
I fitted a new set of these earlier today and noticed that the inner piston on the rear is a lot more sluggish than the outer one so the outer pad doesn't clear the disc and rubs.
Had a look at the front and it's the same.
I've used some Hope silicon lube on all the pistons working them in and out a few times but not much different. Will check them again tomorrow but it's looking like they'll be going back if it doesn't improve.
Just wondered if it's a common problem with this model of have I been unlucky?
In the last month I've fitted new XTs, SLXs, 596s & 486s and all of them have been fine with no sticking pistons and all working equally so happy that I'm doing it right! 🙂
TIA

No issues here, running the 615 with 180mm rotors F&R and been awesome....the best value brakes out there bar none and one of the best performing full stop even when pitted against more expensive rivals.

My rear is doing this, about 12 months old, but probably only done a few hundred miles at most, and hardly ridden through winter.

I've lubed the piston with shimano fluid as per guide and worked it a bit, didn't seem to have worked immediately, but after a decent ride the lever now feels as it should.

Mine did this (I posted about it a while ago). I had to bin them.

Usually it's the outer that sticks as it's further from the oil entry point and after having one apart the oil orifice is tiny.

Few things to try....

Pump all the way out as far as you dare - I use an old set of almost fully worn pads. Clean lube repeat.

Also try bending the pad separation spring further apart.

Third thing take brake off the bike. Tie lever on hard to something (I use round bit of wood as handle bar) then hang vertically with caliper on the ground. When you can be arsed go tap caliper with something to get rid of any air that may be stuck behind piston and at least get it in the line if not up to reservoir and out.

When setting pads, shove a couple of bits of paper folded either side of disc to create slight standoff.

Google hope brake setup and look at the YouTube video if you not seen it.

There is not a lot to go wrong in the caliper.... It's a housing, two square nitrile piston rings and the piston. If not of the above solve it, it's probably an out of tolerance issue so back it needs to go.

Cheers guys.
I'll have a look to see if the overnight lubing has helped and try the tapping and paper spacing too.
Will report back later!
