Confused....some info suggests med rather than long.
Help!
GS
My gf’s Voodoo has M6000 11-42 and it’s a GS
I believe the SGS is for 2x setups

GS for 11-42 but 1x only. SGS is 11-36 but 2x. All in the specs at the above link.
I've got a GS on my longitude ,11-42 rear and 36/26 front ,not a problem using gs on 2x set ups
Thanks all.
TBH a bit confused about why medium rather than long...would have thought the long cage would better suit bigger rear cog....but then I have no rear understanding of the mechanics....can anyone guide me in simple(ton) terms?
Thanks.
The length of the mech is to do with the difference in the number of teeth it has to go through.
For your 1x with 11/42 at the rear, it's 42-11 = 31.
For a 2x, e.g. 34/22 at the front and 36/11 at the rear, it would be 12+25 = 37.
GS for 11-42 but 1x only
GS can be used with 2x set ups like this chap below
I’ve got a GS on my longitude ,11-42 rear and 36/26 front ,not a problem using gs on 2x set ups
Which is what the spec sheet confirms -
Max front difference = 10T which is what your is
Total capacity = 41T which is what yours is
GS for 11-42 but 1x only. SGS is 11-36 but 2x. All in the specs at the above link.
M6000GS is for 1x and 2x, SGS is for triple
Ok, so why would SGS not work with 42t rear cassette?
Will have a 30t single front.
