Looking back at older threads, most seem to suggest the Lyrik is the superior fork to the Pike in all ways. On the newest ones is there any difference other than how stout/stiff the chassis is? Internals seem identical.
I think it’s mainly the stiffness of the chassis. The Lyrik is also usually in bigger travel settings - isn’t the Pike a maximum of 150mm travel?
Both have a charger damper - I’m not sure if it’s the same one 100%. I believe the air spring is the same - I sold a Yari / Lyrik airshaft that also had etchings to suggest it would fit a Pike 29er fork.
Pike is up to 160, lyrik goes to 180.
lyrik has a stiffer chassis.
Also depends what model year; Pike has Charger2 as of 2018 model year whereas Lyrik has Charger2 as of 2017 model year.
Spring was (is?) different.
It's current model year I'm looking at so believe internals are the same.
Good shout on travel difference Tom, although as standard the Pike 29er max is 140mm and Lyrik is 150mm+, it looks like I'd still be able to swap air shaft aftermarket to get the Lyrik to 140
unless you're a clumsy munter doubt you'll need the extra chassis stiffness at 140mm
Can you put the new rc2 lyric damper in the new pike?
One is a bit betterer than the other out of the box, like a Fox 34 vs 36.
Life is simple with numbers. PS Rock Shox myself.
Pike with luftkappe fitted here, it's feels pretty much like my lyrik.
