Evening all,
I know this has been done... but the search functions not helping me much.
So I've got a 29er Lyrik. Kept pulling down a bit to the point mid ride you have to pull on it and get the air chambers to equalize.
Couldn't stop it from doing it with a strip and rebuild.
So I've fitted a debonair shaft.
It's still doing it! GRRRR!
I'm assuming this means I have a scratch on the inside of my stations so air is passing from + to - chamber?
Anything else it could be?
If that's the case... Push coil or Vorsprung coil the only way to fix these? Anyone tried both?
Mark on air shaft is a possibility.
Starting with the obvious ones
When removing lowers is the air shaft extended .if not remove the air cap (I find removing the core enough) then try pull the airshaft and see if it's wanting to pull back in.
If it is remove circlip and pull out the airshaft .
Also check the tiny port isn't blocked with grease .this is very rare these days but can happen as the early models used grease that turned to jelly quickly.
Then when reinserting the lowers NEVER push the lowers up to the crown like the idiots show you on mbr.
For checking air shaft shine your phone or bike light over it and any marks will be easier to spot .
Doing the zip tie trick won't help if the airshaft is marked
Didn't it used to be something blocking the negative transfer port, e.g. grease? But then fitting a different shaft surely fixes that?
