Note to self....Never try and service your forks late at night on a campsite under the only bright light in the area. (Literally was swarmed by flying ants!)
I've got 2020 lyrik Debonairs.
Finishing off in a rush before being suffocated by insects, I put back the two lower bolts that hold the lower legs on, the wrong way around. Eg hollow damper bolt into the air side, and vice versa. D'oh!
Solid bolt came back out, but the hollow bolt (still stuck in the air spring side) is not feeling good.
It unscrews, but not much, and it doesn't loosen...feels like whatever internals it's screwed into are also rotating internally. I've got about a quarter turn and it's like I'm gonna bend something inside if I keep going
Anyone else been stupid enough to have done this, and did you find a way out of it without shelling out hundreds on new internals?!
Take all the air out and compress the fork right till its bottomed out ( maybe with a ratchet strap?) - all thats happened is the damper rod is not firmly in the taper at the bottom of the outer so the bolt turns the whole damper assembly ( or whatever is in that side) so by compressing it you are forcing the rod into the taper. Other alternative is to put a powerdriver / drill onto it and spin it fast and hope that will undo it
I think the treads are the same on both bolts so I dought you've done any damage.
They are on the Pike anyway as I did similar once. Only noticed when I couldn't get the rebound adjuster back in.
Try pushing down on the lowers while undoing the bolt.
That'll push to rod into the lowers more and may be enough to stop the air shaft from turning.
Threads are definitely the same so should be fine
If the air shaft is turning with the bolt as you suspect, there's an allen key fitting at the top of the debonair shaft you could access when the air is out, the cap is off and the forks compressed down but the foot nut at the bottom could also undo if not threadlocked properly to the shaft.
Unlikely but worst case scenario if the footnut comes off pull the lowers off and retrieve with a socket extension bar in the lowers and allen key on the bolt.
