just bought a new bike that came with 160m lyyrik select + forks. been years since ive had rockshox forks so not sure what are common traits with them or whether there's an issue with the fork
when i deflate the fork (nice and slowly) it sucks down all the way, it re-extends ok after inflation but the +ve and -ve air chambers aren't equalizing properly. when deflated i cant pull the fork to full extension as there's clearly still air in the -ve chamber sucking it back down.
when re-inflated it also sits about 10% sag. if i manually pull them up it extends a little further (c 5% static sag) but sucks back down to 10% once forks cycled.
i've read about the issues with the equalisation port sitting around 25% of the way into the stroke (and the new debonair spring solving this) but however i cycle the fork it never fully extends
is this normal for Lyriks? is there and issues and i need to strip down new forks and de-grease to stop the transfer port getting blocked? is it something else entirely? should they be sucking down all the way on deflation? i know what im doing with fox, but clearly not rockshox?
That’s not normal, I’d say the air spring needs to come out and be checked over.
Does sound like the transfer port might be blocked. You can sometimes burp it by taking off the air cap and pulling it to full extension. You have to pull very hard, should hear it when it burps. Mine did it and they've been good again for the last few months. It's an easy thing to try before you open them up
are the forks on the bike when you let the air out?
poah
Memberare the forks on the bike when you let the air out?
Yes. Usually you normally get some sick down as you release the air slowly, but not sucked down to full compression
Remove wheels foot in axle pull up hard and repeat to degrease transfer port. Forks should sag under bikes weight as it is a proportion of total weight.
