I have over the years owned thee Lynskey built frames. All have failed in some structural way.

It's not that titanium is no good for my clumsy style, as I had a Merlin 4.0 that I ran for 10 years before giving it to a mate, who still runs it.

I vowed never to buy another, no matter how pretty it was.

But, I've seen a Lynskey Fatskey and I really amy taken by it. There is a full bike on Fleabay and the frames alone are not outrageous prices on CRC. The divisive twirly down tube would be hidden by whopping tyres, too.

Would I be mad to do it?

I have a twisty tube 29. It's lovely and hasn't exploded yet.

But, and it's a big but, the twisty tubes make it look like the front wheel is out of line with the bars all the time and is really hard to ignore.

Came to laugh at the down tube, stayed to laugh at the tyres 😉

BUT WHY?

All Lynskey Performance Designs bicycle frames carry a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects to the original owner

the selling it on 2nd hand would worry me, if your worried about it and you are the initial buyer

I (and many others) simply wouldn't buy one - especially second hand. Factor that into your purchase decision. That "bike for life" thing might, for once, be true.

I don't wish to pass comment on the actual photo but i really think your asking the opinions of the wrong people, it's like asking a parent about their very small child's talent, you're only going to get one answer and it has neither validity nor basis in reality.

Impressed the bike hasn't slipped and fallen to death on what must be the worlds greasiest decking.

Also no, it looks wrong.

I know Javier Simon has ridden three HT550s on a Lynskey plus other ITTs and shorter races. I wonder if there's a problem with quality control, which if so is a bit worrying really. I've seen posts on US forums complaining about them as well.

It's not pretty.

I may not qualify as a fatbike fan, though I'm certainly not a fatbike hater, but believe me it's not the fat that's preventing it being pretty 😉

I don't think there's any guarantee they'll snap or be badly made but it does seem they're a bit prone to that.

I don't generally care what a bike looks like as you can't see it whilst you're riding it.

But here you've got that ugly, stupid top tube staring you in the face the whole time! Not to mention the maddening optical-illusion effect as mentioned earlier. It's a no from me 🙂

So they have a reputation for frames failing on their mainstream bikes, so we think buying one with worse butting/joints is a good idea?

Dont get me wrong a ti fatbike will be lovely - just its a hell of a gamble. Do you ride an Evil too? 😉

It's not pretty.

It's like showing your holiday snaps of some hottie you bagged off with to your mates. You know what they're going to say, but you still think there's some allure there.

Go to bed with Kate Moss, wake up with Stirling Moss.

Maybe the Fatboy lives on then.

It looks like you didn't realise your hob was on, then put your bike on top of it.

That Travers toptube looks like a chubber has been sat on it. Don't like them. Never have, it reminds me of my Ti456 (snap!)

Maybe Carbon then? Who does fat carbon who doesn't speak mandarin?

The Beargrease has been for sale for a couple of years. What was scotroutes saying about a bike for life?

And the Ibis Trans fat isn't really available in the UK.
