Heading back to south west Wales next week and fancy doing some natural riding. Have been recommended Lyn Brianne and the Doethie Valley but know nothing about the area.

Ive found this route guide and was wondering if anyone has any experience of the ride or can suggest anything better.

Cheers

That's the classic loop. We did it a couple of years ago, the BW across the top of that map from Soar y Mynydd to Tyn y Cornel in the Doethie Valley was closed (due to pretty serious erosion as it turned out). There's another bridleway that runs from here http://streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=278457&Y=252437&A=Y&Z=120 over to the valley but you miss the top couple of Km.

If it's been dry for a few days (weeks?) then it'll be great but the bracken might be a bit high at the moment

Mynydd Mallaen is my favourite mini wilderness trip.

We rode it yesterday. Doethie valley itself is pretty swamped in bracken in places, but fine if you're ok with a bit of guess-where-the-front-wheel-is riding.

But, it was a lot muddier than we expected, which meant a lot of sliding around and slow sticky riding where you'd usually be zipping along. (Still great though.) Personally, I'd wait until it's drier as a) it'll be more fun and b) you won't knacker the trail.

Thanks all.

Is there anything else in the area which might be worth a look? I had thought about the Gap route but heard mixed reviews.
