Go German with a Canyon AL29. Cheaper & possibly lighter. Not carbon of course.

Got told by giant dealer that all xc 29ers were sold out till 2013 bikes

If they cost is the same I'd choose the Giant. Or wait for the Canyon carbon 29er, us just get the al one

Or buy a whyte 829, fantastic bike with plenty of grip and very quick even on the twisty bits

I have the Giant XTC29 alu, it's bloody brilliant but i felt it needed higher bars.

Pedalon in Hampshire had a xtc composite a couple of days ago. Don't know what size though .
