Quite like my Zeb, although I seems smoother off the top then my friends 2023 zeb. Support through the rest of the stroke is not as good mind. So with a luftkappe I should be able to run higher pressure for more support without losing the sensitivity, right?
better off with a secus on a zeb
I would have got a Smashpot if I'd kept my old Zeb.
Dunno if a Luftkappe would let you access more of the travel, which was one of the main issues on mine TBH (as well as lack of support).
Interesting 🤔 mixed opinions then!
Interestingly, all 3 are trying to do the same thing, which is to make the air spring more coil like. It's just a question of what other compromises you're happy to make (weight, cost, complexity, durability etc).
Well, the Luftkappe might well let you have more travel at the same time as providing more support, I was just saying I don't know if it would.
It's weird in that I have one pal who has fitted the new airspring to the old Zeb, and another who's got the new damper in the old Zeb - and both say it's better for support.
So it looks like there were gains to be made both sides of the fork.
Personally I grabbed a cheap new Zeb from Germany and flogged the old one.
Cheers, had a smashpot on a 36, and whilst I enjoyed it I don't think I would bother again. Might get a cheaper new Zeb from Germany. Thanks!
I'd coilise it myself, using whatever method you prefer, imo for big forks there's just no substitute.
I know someone who put a Secus on his 2021 Zeb and loves it - more support + more supple too. It turns it into a triple chamber fork which makes it more linear and coil-like for an air fork.
trutune is worth a look

I’ve the Smashpot in my ZEB.. Thouroughly recommended…..
Updated damper to the Charger 3 at the same time……
fork is sublime… nothing else like it for buttery performance….
only downside is the spring selection as alternate scenarios demand spring changes…
Might get a cheaper new Zeb from Germany. Thanks!
The cost to change was cheaper than modifying my existing Zeb, and the new one is a big improvement.
I'd still love to try a coil conversion, but the standard air fork doesn't need any modding IMO.

How much did you pay and where from? Any import VAT?

Bikester. £615. No extra costs.
Cheap because it was the 190mm, might not find that price now but they seem to be £735 for the 180mm Ultimate.
Edit: Sorry, that was BikeInn, dunno about their tax & customs setup
