Hi lowestoft crew
any good rides that -- wait for it -- take in some old churches?
I'm riding in the Suffolk Historic Churches ride and thought I'd see if I could get some MTB riding in.
The idea is that you cycle to historic churches, which are open for the day. Every rider makes up his or her own route and the churches record who comes through the door.
Anything good around Somerleyton, for example?
Not the best for MTB Riding , would be better off doing road riding especiallly visiting churchs , one of the nicest churches is right outside Frition Lake !
Going to Fritton Lake with the kids tomorrow and will have a closer look. . .
Where do the guys out of street life in Lowestoft ride? may need to pop in there.

Well they do a mixture of off-road on a circut round fritton , hopton etc just bridelways really and lots of road riding .
ah. looks like a road ride is in my future.
Oulton Broad-Carlton Colville-Henstead-Ellough-Weston-Sotterly-Stoven-Ringsfield-Redisham-Halesworth-Reydon-Southwold-South Cove-Covehithe-Wrentham & back to Oulton Broad.
Should find a Church in most of those. It's kind of a loop. 🙂
nice one
thanks
Now I need a map
🙂
had a good day out at Fritton lake today with the fam, but won't be taking the bike there anytime soon. the ride would last about 15 minutes by the looks of it. . .
At the lake itself or the FC woods up the road by The Decoy pub? Not been up there for YEARS mind.
at the lake itself -- is there riding near the pub?
If you follow the road just past the pub (if heading towards Yarmouth) then there's an FC woods along there. Supposed to be a good few trails through there but unmarked.
If starting from OB there's a series of bridleways from the end if Sands Lane by the Church, via Camps Heath, road section to the Flixton Phone box and then follow the by way to Somerleyton. Gets you some of the way to Fritton off road. Depending on your attitude to cheeky trails there's a some more....
Thats part of our circut then following on up past the pub and around the woods and out on the path that runs adjacant to the river all the way to the bridge in yarmouth then straight through town passsing Matalan on through the docks and through Gorleston and on to the path that runs through the golf course to Hopton , from there you can ride along the cliff tops most of the way to Lowestoft apart from a couple of spots where the cliffs have eroded away .If you follow the road just past the pub (if heading towards Yarmouth) then there's an FC woods along there. Hope this helps .
if it's anything like the ride we do from Street Life in Norwich I'll need a guide!!
But I thought there might be some trails like the ones above from OB -- will investigate those as a start
thanks
