Low traffic route from Trent (Gainsborough?) to the coast (Cleethorpes?)

Does such a thing exist? I know bits of NCN1 might work into it. I'm in Doncaster and fancy a ride to the coast, some fish and chips and a lazy train ride back from Cleethorpes. I can get myself to a Trent crossing at Gainsborough or Keadby, but east of the Trent I don't know much other than A roads, and none of them would make for a nice day on the bike. Anybody know better than me?

How about the minor roads North of the A631 heading for Caistor? Then across to NCN1/110. Perhaps also go via Thorne rather than Gainsborough? Ah, that's your Keadby route isn't it?

Yes, there's a lot of twin villages either side of the Trent which used to have ferries which now are a long way apart by road. I notice the viaduct at Torksey is open as a footpath, so that's another option if I came down the Roman Road from Everton to the Trent.

From torksey you could go towards Bransby then across to sturgeon by stow, Thorpe Lea fallows to Brattlby. Then up the horrid (fun?) steep sharp hill, past the runway at RAF scampton on where you may see the red arrows. Then cross a15 through hackthorn and out through cold hanworth, friesthorpe and onto route 1. Not sure about bike routes once you get to barnoldby le neck, it gets more built up there.

The above isn’t gospel, most of the small roads on those bits will be quiet. Just avoid the A1500 as cars tend to blast down it.
I live on route 1 between nettleham and market Rasen, so if you plan a route that goes that way let me know and I can provide you with a refuelling stop.

I start with https://cycle.travel/map for this sort of planning

Canal to Keadby, over the Trent to Gunness, Flixboro, Bagmoor and bridleway to Roxby, over the Ancholme at Horkstow, up the hill and right along Middlegate then left under A15 to Kirmington, cross A18 and up the side of the airport. Left to Gt Limber and follow road to Swallow then left to Hatfield, left again to cross A18 to Waltham then it's just a wiggle into Cleethorpes from there.
Ernie Becketts in the marketplace is the chippy you want.

I think stretch... might be the winner for me.

I do like an interesting bridge, and the Keadby and Horkstow examples are definitely in the Very Interesting list. Thorne to Keadby now seems upgraded and signposted too as something called Isle of Axholme Greenway. I might detour to Brocklesby to see the arch and what can be seen of the estate, my next door neighbour for many years was the Baroness from that estate, though her uncle was the one in residence.

I'll also need to plan for when the trains are going to be running to get me home again.

@midlifecrashes that route is easy adapted to go to Brocklesby, head to Ulceby and then right to Brocklesby instead of going to Kirmington, would suggest that you ride to the arch and back on the estate and not use the A18.
Good luck with the trains - a lot of the Cleethorpes - Donny trains have been buses lately.
