I've just been doing some online window shopping/day dreaming, really like the look of some of these low-rider/cruiser style bikes. Is anyone into them and care to share some pictures and experiences?

The Ruff Cycles Ruffian and Lil Buddy e-bikes, look like great fun for cruising about on. Like all nice things they unfortunatley come with a huge price tag, it's nice to dream though!

Chopper-style?
Longer and longer forks, slacker and slacker head angles?
Great for going fast on long, straight American highways, but not for turning corners?

Just wait five years and that will be all MTBs 🙁

I like them. They're fun.

I have a cruiser frame I used to use in Oz to ride to the beach. The bike is very long and the seat is very low, almost recumbent.

This results in the opportunity for having fun with roadies.

If there's any sort of headwind, you have an advantage of lower frontal area, so although the riding position is a wee bit inefficient, you can often go a bit faster than them. If you want to add to their angst, wear a Hawaiian shirt flapping open so your pot-belly is getting the sun. (Nothing against roadies, I just used to torment my nephew who was on the Australian tri-athlete team by doing this to him when we rode into town as retribution for the way he'd drop me on climbs)

You won't enjoy the pedally side of hills, but the other side is more fun. 🙂

I should resurrect it for summer.

I built this cruiser a few years back, but with a riding position more conducive to getting up hills (it's a bit lumpy in the Highlands)

Absolutely useless if you want to blend in.

Like trying to ride a bucking bronko made of spaghetti down a hill.

For sale, it's in my parents shed, the chrome has pitted and superficially rusted.

And when I say for sale. I mean it's free if you stick some money in a charity and post up pics of it actually being ridden not just flipped on eBay.

And when I say for sale....

Are you mad?

That looks like a perfect mount for the SSUK.

Kudos for a spot on description of how much fun they are. 🙂

If I can't get rid of it any other way it's going in the SSUK auction.

Also, the seat hoop needs re-fabricating as a minimum as it's cracked. Just needs a bit of tube and a pipe bender.

Some crazy and cool looking bikes. I keep meaning to pop in to Manchester to see some in the flesh.

Met this guy at a bike show last year and the bikes are incredibly. He'll weld you up a frame for decent price.

Loving Gonzo Customs. The 72 hole Nexus hub is very epicyclo 🙂

Atomic zombie website also good for inspiration, as is Built motorbike mag (although sometimes slighty too hipsterish).

Can anyone fill me in about the SSUK / auction comments? I'm not on Facebook so probably missed it.

Not as cool as epicyclo's stuff, but I was interested in the idea of what a UK cruiser might look like (as opposed to the US classic style). Harking back to my teenage years and road bike frames with massive bars (guess we'd call them klunkers now).

Anyway, built this off a late 80s/early 90s Peugeot MTB frame and a set of period Tange Prestige forks off of eBay. Used as a shop/pub bike.

There's usually some donated bling / frames etc from the sponsors that gets auctioned off for charity.

From Classic-cycles.de, the Greaser.

It's an eBike, but doesn't have to be, but if you're going to have an eBike, this is a good looking one IMO.

I was planning to buy a Charge Cleaver as a commuter for my completely flat journey to work. Shame they never released it

My mate's waiting on the monkey-bike inspired one, second from top, from a Kickstarter - definitely needs 'guards though, fat tyres pick up an awful lot of muck.

Made me smile.

I was going to buy Charge Klunker but ended up buying a Transition Klunker when they didn't materialize. Great for pub/ trail dog biking duties.

Holy thread revival, Batman! 😮

PX have allegedly found a single Felt Nexus 3sp covered in du https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/FBNEBULA3SP/felt-nebula-3-sp---charcoal-black
£300

It would be tempting if it wasn't for the archaic brakes, plus the fact it produces its own planetoid gravity field at ~23Kg! 😮 😮
