never worn pads in the past (but don't ride anything extreme and more of a bimbler these days Wondering what options there were for truly unobtrusive all day use that are light / very comfy and preferably don't break the bank !
thanks in advance

Tld speeds

I'm the same . If I feel em they gone.

These feel like knee warmers but do protect from the sort of stuff I wanted them to protect against.

I bought some thin fox launch ones and they have been great for about a year.

Race Face Charge.  They are basically a knee warmer type thing with a bit of padding and a kevlar front.

I have the meshy summer and winter warm versions and i really like them for "normal" riding.

Fox ones for me chewed the back of my legs really badly. I’ve got some ixs and really pleased with them after trying 3 or 4 others out. Think a lot of whether you can feel then or bit is simply fit and they’re all slightly different.

I’ve got a pair of Ion K Sleeve knee pad which are very comfy, don’t know I’ve got them on after a couple of minutes. They’re my go to pads for quick rides from the door though I’d not use them for uplift or big days in the mountains as not enough protection.

As above ^^^but I have Bliss ARG minimalist. Feel odd for first 2 minutes then you forget you are wearing them. Oh, and I crash tested them on rocks. Knees covered in pads = saved. Elbows covered in nowt = not saved and messy.

Watching with interest as a set of knee pads that are comfortable all day has been like the holy grail for me, in that I doubt they actually exist 🙂

It may just be my knobbly knees but the ones that lie flat never stay in place for me. I've got a set of G-form in the box but I just get fed up with having to adjust them all the time. So, I need something that has a shaped pocket for my knee to sit in (so they stay in place) but these all tend to be heavier than I need for my mincing. Current favorites are an older set of Endura MT500 pads, but I'd still prefer something lighter.

The Bliss ones look interesting, but I can't tell if they have a shaped pad (it mentions a 3D pad in the blurb, whatever than means). They are blue though, which would match my bike 🙂

Me too. Brilliant pads.

I wear 3/4 undershorts and roll the ends over the pads, stops them moving anywhere see. Looks a bit like I've got a weird knee disease but wgas.

I had some knee pads I barley noticed. But when I had a crash in them they barely made any difference (still visited hospital to have my knee cleaned up and ended up with a knee infection).

Now I ride everywhere in proper big knee pads. Even the 40kmnodd I rode today I’m hot sunny weather. Just not worth the risk not wearing them for me now.

G-Form here as well. They're great. Might be some left on sportpursuit for cheapness...

Alpinestars Paragon are worth a look, light but they have a decent amount of protection

+1 Raceface Charge for local wood rides. Anything rocky and I switch to Dainese Trail Skins - still thin and light but with a bit more protection.

Race face charge are great, for nettle and bramble and can save cuts on small offs but offer limited protection = no padding

The bliss arg minimalist are ok mine slipped around and I ripped the neoprene material above the knee on several crashes so we’re never right for me.

Gform comfy although mine rub on longer rides
And can slip down

dainese trailskins Are good bulky but comfortable for all day riding, I took a hard crash and managed to rip an inch square on my left knee whilst I had them on ;0(

Fox launch enduro (not the newest 2019 model) are really comfy but hot/sweaty even in winter for me

Two mates have the ixs and really rate them

So I’m not sure the perfect knee pads exist for me
but after having my knee cleaned in theatre and the doctor telling me it took 22 gallon of water to clean it out then a pair is better than not

Used to wear dainese trail skins for light protection, now switched to idp sam hill. I found them more comfortable on longer rides due to thier knee warmer type design and a better fit for my skinny legs. For rougher stuff i switch to poc vpd.

Dakine slayer for me, comfy all day with occasional adjustment, but still have decent protection.

another for RF Charge, for every day mincecore lite around the loamy forests of the Surrey / Hants borders. Just enough to stop you skinning your knees if it is a bit gravelly (did that at Swinley one time, got infected, missed 4 weeks riding hence always wear knee pads now)

They'd do sod all on rocks though so have some proper intrusive Stormtrooper ones for ruffty tuffty days

And also +1 for G-form, I have these but as elbows, I only tend to wear them on big days as I just don't land on my elbows much. I did have knees too but for some reason couldn't get the knees to be comfortable, hence the mix n'match approach.....but if they are comfortable hard shell >>>> g-form >>>>> FR if it's at all hard core (which wasn't the question after all)
