Hi folks, found myself in a bit of a pickle with this one and looking for some help.

I've just bought a specialized frame from the forum and was supplied with a washer to enable me to run a 1/8 steerer in the tapered headtube.

The washer apparently sits on top of the intergrated bearing which is then inserted into the frame. The problem is, I can't see a reason for the washer to be there. The 11/5 bearing fits better without it. The only thing I can think of is to make the bearing sit lower in the head tube for fork crown clearance (although that is a bit of a stab in the dark).

There may be a clue here:

Thanks for the help 🙂
