Sorry, I know we have a lot of these threads!!

I'm about to start a longer commute 1 or 2 days per week. 10 miles each way.....I've got a Marin DSX1 (flat bar gravel bike)

It's got fairly hefty 45mm WTB riddlers on, which are fine, but I can't help thinking that some actual road tyres might be nice! Stock wheelset is shite too!

So, 12mm bolt through 11 speed, what should I be looking at? Budget is only 200 quid really. Also, what tyres....it seems like the days of 23mm Conti gp4000 are gone!

I've had budget Shimano wheels on my road bike that gets used for commuting off and on since about 2004.

In that time I've gone through a couple of rear rims. It was cheaper to buy a pair of wheels than get a new rear rim. The hubs have had 0 maintenance, they have spun perfectly all that time. Not sure how many miles I've done, about 10,000? It's been off and on with jobs I can and can't commute to and never a more than 8 miles a day.

So I'd find a cheap Shimano one that fits, fit it, forget about it, perhaps check the bearings every 3 months?

What size are you running?

Not ridden a road bike for years and only ever used 23's. Doesn't seem to be de rigueur currently 🙄
