Beautiful weather, a beer in hand, some new an old components to upgrade the hack bike with but ran into a few issues.
First, i was taking the old campag shifters off but the clamp bolt was stuck and i rounded it off so had to hacksaw the shifting clamp off.. The campag shifter doesnt work anyway as i previously broke it and why this bike was running singlespeed for brake use only.
Decided to put some old 9 speed tiagra shifters on so i can run it 1x9 instead with an old xtr mech..
The bike is an old Kinesis crosslight 5t CX bike with cantis and mini v..
Question. Is it ok to run the 9 speed gear cable outer full length from shifter direct to the rear mech instead of having to cut it in places to fit in between the frame mounts. Seems kinda pain in the ass to do that when i can just cable tie the full length gear outer to the frame?
Also just need to figure out how long my chain needs to be for this 1x9. 114 links is way too long.
Chain length = big chainring / big sprocket (not through derailleur) and add 2 links.
Drill the frame mounts out to accept outer cable threaded through.
